Trip into Sinkhole – Cenote Ik Kil
Cenote Ik kil is a well known cenote outside Pisté in the Municipality of Tinúm, Yucatán, Mexico, Located in the Eco-archeological Park Ik Kil, just 3 km. from Chichén Itzá and Pisté. Called the “Sacred Blue Cenote,” it is a perfectly round well-type cenote with exuberant vegetation and waterfalls.
This is another ideal place for swimming in the clear blue water. 196 feet wide and about 130 feet deep, it is an open cenote about 85 feet from the surface. A grand stairway leads you down the steps into the water.
Entrance is 70 pesos and it is open daily from 8 AM to 6 PM. There is also an excellent buffet style restaurant here and bungalows for overnight stay.
Xel-Ha…the Natural Wonder. Enjoy the natural beauty of Cenote Ik Kil, a natural aquarium which is ideal for snorkeling. Safe for kids of all ages to encounter tropical fish in this protected inlet. Xel-ha is described as “a place to share in celebrating the biological parade of the Riviera Maya”.
The open-sea aquarium of Cenote Ik Kil, offers so much for your whole family including water activities like snorkeling and floating the lazy river. The park is All Inclusive, which means all your food, drinks, snorkeling equipment, towels and lockers is included.
The Cenote Ik Kil, is part of a larger complex of a restaurant, store, changing rooms, and cottages for rent. There is also a Mayan ruin on the site.
