Looking for pump up your Adrenaline or if you are one of them who are in love with adventure like trekking, mountaineering, river rafting etc.

But now you just dont know how to begin as mountaineering takes some skills. You can get yourself trained at some Institutes of Government of India like – Nehru Institute of Mountaineering – Uttarakashi, Himalayan Mountaineering Institute –  Darjeeling.

Following first article is a trekking and mountaineering experience done by one of the candidate in NIM  as a part of training in Basic Mountaineering Course at ABVIMAS Manali and the second one is a trek experience done by some friends.

1. Beas Kund Trek

Beas River separates Pir-Panjal and Dhauladhar ranges of Himalayas.

Day 1: (Trek to Solang)

Trek started from Manali. We left at 8:30AM, first we went to old Manali. We went through barua, bahang villages. It was a total of 13Km trek. Shops were there on the way where one can buy namkeen and other edible stuff.

We reached there by 2:00 PM. We stayed there in ABVIMAS building while one can also stay in hotels nearby. This place is also famous for winter sports, in winter there is good snow fall at this place, national/international competitions are organized here while in summer paragliding/zorbing etc events are there for tourists.

The Durmitor National Park

This breathtaking Durmitor National Park is full of glaciers and is traversed by rivers and underground streams. Along the Tara river canyon, which has the deepest gorges in Europe, the dense pine forests are interspersed with clear lakes and harbour a wide range of endemic flora. There are beatuifull landscapes and unique nature.

Information

The Durmitor National Park, created in 1952 and it comprise of  the massif of Durmitor, the canyons of Tara, Sušica and Draga rivers and the higher part of the canyon plateau Komarnica, covering the area of 390 km². The Durmitor massif offers about 18 lakes, 5 canyons, 27 peaks above 2200 meters, 48 peaks above 2000 meters, 748 sources of potable waters, forests over 500 years old, 2000 km of marked foot paths and climbing paths.

The area and the mountain was the location of the Battle of the Sutjeska in 1943 in World War II, when the Germans and Italians pursued Tito’s Partisans. There is a monument commemorating the battle in Tjentište. Durmitor mountain is the centre of Montenegrin mountain tourism. The tourist facilities are concentrated around the town of Žabljak. During the winter, main activities on Durmitor are skiing and, increasingly, snowboarding.
